Well, I'm done. There were definitely some things I would never have used but it is good to have a little background knowledge should our patrons require assistance. I think I would have preferred to learn this things in a group setting as I don't like bothering my colleagues for help.

I love NetLibrary. My husband bought an MP3 but it is not compatible. I will go out and get one that is and plan on downloading lots of books. Right now I listen to books on CD on a Walkman and it totally embarasses my children. I will miss that!

I also spent a lot of time looking at cute Black lab puppy dieos of course. This site is a fun way to waste a whole lot of time.
I do think YouTube would be a great way to introduce our library to the world - similar to the Calgary public Library.

2.0 Wiki is another great way to collaborate ideas on specific subjects.It was like we were all sitting in the staff lounge discussing our holidays.

I can definiely see pros and cons to Wiki. It is great as a collaborative tool but its seems there is not much control. Again, it is a good tool to create lists and such. It seem to be just another way in a long list of ways to do the same thing. A little overwhelming.

I like these statements made by Michael Stevens. Is there evidence it meets the users needs? I understand about the inevitability of change but is it too much too soon?

I like this idea of bookmarking. It was pretty simple to use.It seems there is potential for use in research and it is great that you can access it from anywhere. Again it is fun to see what others favorites are.

What I find interesting about Twitter is the psychology behind it and why people do it. I can see how it is great for times like the events in Haiti where people (who have access to a computer)can get in contact and send quick messages and updates to others. The link to my homepage is:

I have subcribed a few sites including CNN , New York Public Library (just because I like the building on 5th Ave.) Personally, I don't really feel the need to have such immediate news updates - most of it is bad news anyway. However, I do like the library related sites for book recommendations and such. It helps with ideas for my posts.

All I can say is I want my mind to be open but the door is sticking. Technology and me don't really get along. So, I am afraid it might take a while - 25 is a big number.

I tried a few of these. This is actually fun. All of my good photos are at home on my key but I intend on doing a calendar - the canine kind of course. I think I am a bit obsessed. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year!

I wish I were a Dog

To me, Christmas means baking. I have always done lots of it - from shortbread to chocolate drops to gingerbread houses. My kids loved it and usually were a help in the kitchen. Now they are off doing others things of great importance. Well, at least my new baby appreciates me and my baking. On Christmas Eve, after inadvertantly leaving two trays of goodies on a chair in the dining room, my pooch made quick work of both. Not only did she not get the least bit sick, she also didn't gain an ounce. After looking at me with a tilted head and devilishly innocent eyes I said to her,"I wish I were you , you lucky dog. You have the best life!".

Thing #4 - In the beginning...

This is the beginning of a very scary rollercoaster for me. As most of you know I am probably the least technically minded person you know. To me, blogging is like a journal and journals are like diaries and, when I was young, I kept mine hidden from prying eyes. This was until my older sisters found it and read it. I stopped writing after that and they owed me big time! So to find things to write about that others would be interested in will be difficult. I am hopeful I won't get "blogged" down with the technology end of things. It will be an experience I wouldn't have done on my own and I apologize in advance for any outbursts in the workroom.
